Home Sweet Home

I have had a crazy week and a half. On July 28th, Seth and I took a giant leap forward into proper adulthood by closing on our first home! We’re officially homeowners now! Which, honestly, is both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time – plus a lot more work than I probably anticipated.

And I love it. 💜

This is our little home.

A small cape-style home with red shutters.

On the outside, it’s not perfect – there is a lot of landscaping that needs to be done. Home improvement projects, too. The goal is to replace those barely-there front steps with a really beautiful portico, paint the shutters and trim (I’m not a fan of warm colors), and just generally add a little more life and excitement to the façade.

Inside, though, it is absolutely beautiful. My kitchen is to die for. 😍

A photo of my kitchen. It's white and has a beautiful, original farmhouse sink.
I fell in love with the sink the second I laid eyes on it.

We still have a lot of unpacking and setting up to do, but we’re making some progress. The kitchen is now fully-stocked, and the living room is coming together beautifully. It’ll take some time, but I’m so excited to make it completely ours.

We ended up purchasing a lot of things for the home – pressure washer, lawn mower, etc. I took it as an opportunity to update our furniture a little bit, too. We ended up with a beautiful new Ikea Vittsjö coffee table, and just ordered an adorable (and comfy!) new sofa for the living room/office.

Yeah – that’s the only major downside to the house is that, at the moment, I don’t have a dedicated “office”. There’s an office nook upstairs, but it’s got this giant built-in desk that definitely isn’t my style. A coat of paint, maybe, would make it workable, but I just don’t know if the space is really what I want as an office.

So for now, my office is in the living room. I ~ may ~ end up turning the dining room into an office. I haven’t decided yet, but I know I really need a dedicated space for me and my work. 😕

There’s still quite a bit of work to share as I keep pushing forward and making the house “home”. I plan to keep sharing home updates as I work to get it exactly where I want it to be.

  1. Good job on the adulting! I’m envious of your home. It looks very cozy. Is there anyway to take out the built in desk? Oh well, the dining room is (I’m assuming) would be a great spacious place for an office! Congrats again!

    1. Aww thank you! 😊 It really is a cute home. ❣️ I think the built-in can come out, but I’m really considering painting it and turning the little nook into a vanity. 💅🏻 😂
